Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will use their lean manufacturing experience to enhance the efficient operation of the company’s manufacturing processes, equipment, and infrastructure. An expert in change management, the Manufacturing Engineer will assist in the company wide adoption of Lean principles and culture. You will collect and analyze productivity metrics, as well as plan and implement continuous improvement projects, kaizen events, etc. in order to assist the production staff to achieve cost and productivity targets.

Your responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Conduct time studies, evaluate manufacturing processes to identify ways to reduce assembly line balance losses, and reduce cycle times using Lean fundamentals.
  • Develop and prepare standard work documentation, standard operating procedures, bills of process documentation, and workflow mapping/analysis.
  • Identify and implement new technologies, processes, or equipment used in the production facility with a view towards productivity metrics, process automation, and industry 4.0.
  • Identify, design, and implement the equipment, fixtures, and tooling required to facilitate efficient manufacturing operations in all areas of the facility.
  • Prepare assembly drawings, bills of material, assembly line layouts, and materials routing documentation.
  • Perform design for manufacturability analysis on consumer hearth products primarily fabricated from precision sheet metal.

Qualifications

  • Suitable technical degree in engineering or equivalent in experience, manufacturing engineering experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work, etc. required.
  • Strong change management skills a definite asset.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with SolidWorks CAD software. Sheetmetal an asset.
  • Experience with all typical office productivity software.
  • Experience with ERP and Database software is preferred but not necessary.
